I initially became interested in painting because I loved fooling around with paint. I attended the University of Washington where I encountered conceptual ideas about art but the real allure of painting has continued to be the materiality of paint, the physicality of painting, and having my own little chaos to control. My work has evolved from gestural abstraction to include recognizable forms that have a personal reference. Plants, animals, figures and objects populate my work. The duality between abstraction and form drives the process of my work where the content unfolds to confront the unknowable and curiosities of life. I have exhibited regionally in the Pacific Northwest and am currently a member of Shift Gallery
